How to extract an excerpt instead of a whole blog

I’m using feedwordpress plugin to post RSS feeds into my posts. However it’s extracting all the blog contents and not an excerpt. How do I fix it so that I get an excerpt instead

He says to fix the code in the template. So I think I better consult the source.

Have you checked by going to WordPress Settings -> Reading
there is a option
“For each article in a feed, show Full text or Summary”

sorry stupid mistake. Somehow I needed to log off and on in order to make it work properly.
