For our test installation the author pages are working just fine, we can look into your setup if you want as it is just not possible to troubleshoot these type of strange issues without login and limited information.
It’s OK. If it’s not a common problem I guess it’s nothing to worry about. I fixed it now.
I have experienced the same issues mentioned here. Very frustrating when I am trying to verify with google+ by way of author bio

Kindly create a separate thread for your issue with the steps you have followed until now. We will try our best to help you, sometimes it just takes a couple of days from the Google side before the picture starts to appear.
