You can edit your menu by going to Appearance -> Menu. Remove some items from your menu if it’s getting too big and use sub menus.
The theme has no such issues.
Try the following to troubleshoot:
1) Disable plugins one by one and check to identify if any plugin is doing that.
2) Install fresh WordPress. Do not modify any language yet.
3) Delete the theme and reinstall by downloading new one from the member area.Author pages can be accessed by clicking the author link.
If you want to create a custom about page, simplest way will be to use left alignment on images with paragraph on right. Alternatively, you can use any column plugin to make good looking about page.
I checked your site, you don’t have any posts published, only pages. Slider pulls featured images from posts.
After posts are published and if the slider is still not showing then try by copying the “js” folder to your child theme.Read more about child theming here http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
