I cannot find that code in custom.css in your website, did you save the file after pasting the code?
I can see the Google+ just fine

As you are removing it from the source code they won’t be visible even to the search engines.
Tip: Instead of removing them by editing source you can also manage/delete tags by going to Dashboard -> Posts -> Tags
