This has been requested a couple of times already so we will probably add it in one of the upcoming release.
Uploading via WP or via FTP both will overwrite the files and are similar.
If you know FTP you can backup the previous theme by transferring locally and then overwrite with the new version.
It’s opening fine in IE at our end.
For reference, check live demo in IE http://demo.themonic.com/io-pro/Yes, it was made like this starting in v1.4.2 for very small resolution 440px and smaller only, however we will be reverting this back to normal in the upcoming v1.4.5 which will be available for download on May 1.
We have made this change in the latest commit to v1.4.5, the download will become available on 1 May 2014 after a bit of testing.
