How to redirect image attachments to parent posts?

    I would like my image attachments to redirect to their parent posts…

    I have tried adding this to the first line of image.php but it doesn’t work

    <?php wp_redirect(get_permalink($post->post_parent)); ?>

    Please can you advise how I can get image attachments to redirect to their parent posts…

    I use an attachment redirect on another website of mine and it works fine but on this website it doesn’t – the main difference between the two websites is the THEME… ie.. Iconic One doesn’t work.. which is why the question was posted here….
